I have been a long time user of AVG free edition. I have to say it saved me tons of money over the years. With having a free version I cant understand why people do not have a anti virus program running on there pc.

I do consulting work for home users fixing small problems for them. 90% of what I do is removing viruses and spyware. The other 10% is installing DSL or Cable for people. I would guess that at least 75% didn’t have a working anti-virus installed, or wasn’t updated.

AVG by grisoft, will automatically download updates scan your pc and try and actually fix the problem without needing your input. It comes with an email scanner that works with outlook and outlook express. I personally use it along with all my family except for my ubuntu laptop. Their update service is quick unlike symantec which seems to take a long time to download and install updates.

AVG is a little bit of a memory hog. But being free I think that makes up for it. They do have a paid version which will give you other features, but if your looking for a great anti-virus that wont break the bank, AVG is the one I would recommend.
