Managing multiple websites I was forced to have multiple email accounts. Like others you probably have at least 2 or 3 accounts. Along with that I have a desktop and a laptop. I have Mozilla Thunderbird setup as my default mail and news client. After upgrading my phone to the Samsung Blackjack it was a daunting task to setup each email account. I decided that I needed one email account to handle all my mail outgoing and incoming. I had a gmail account setup for years, not really using it except for adsense adds. This is what I did to bring everything under one roof.
1. Setup gmail for Imap support.
2. In gmail Settings —-> Accounts You can add multiple pop3 email accounts
3. Setup Mozilla Thunderbird to check single account IMAP.
4. Deleted all the old accounts.
5. Setup Gmail account on my phone for IMAP
6. Setup Laptop the same as the desktop. ( This keeps everything on the same page.)
A couple of my mail accounts had no spam filtering at all. I would get between 100 to 150 emails. Now running them through Gmail I have received only the good emails. The rest remain in Gmail’s Bulk Mail. It has cut down the amount of data coming to my phone by 80%. Keeping everything in sync, I know what I have responded to, and what I need to do. The only real issue is that gmail does not allow you to configure the default checking interval of your other mail accounts. I have not noticed any real lags in my email being delivered. I will keep this post open, and update it in a month to recap what I have found.

After the first day I love what gmail has done with my email. If you have any questions setting this up please feel free to contact me.

I’ve been using Gmail almost exclusively for a couple of years now. I really don’t know what I did before I had Archiving and Google search capabilities. And their spam filtering is pretty good as well.

A couple of questions come to mind. Have you set up some sort of Filter or tagging system to keep each account’s email separable? Also, when you reply to an email, does your reply email look like it’s coming from gmail, or can it be automatically set up to look like it’s coming from the account to which it was originally sent?

Gmail automatically tags these messages coming into my inbox. Now when they are delivered to my phone they are not. They all will display in the inbox but you can ask for mail just from those accounts.
The replying problem can be a bit of an issue. From gmail, you can make it appear to come from those accounts. Very simple it asks you this during the setup. It displays in outlook with a simple email from your gmail account sent from your normal address. When replying it shows your normal email address. If you have any other questions you can contact me and I would be more than happy to help.
